How to measure a corrugated box

Share length, width, and height clearly, and note whether you measured inside or outside the box.

Start with the box orientation

Place the box on a flat surface and decide which side is the length, which is the width, and which is the height. Keep the same orientation when you write the measurements.

Record three dimensions

Measure length × width × height and write the unit beside the numbers, such as mm, cm, or inches. Do not mix units in one set of dimensions.

State whether the measurements are internal (space inside the box) or external (outside size). If you are not sure which is required, say so in the quote request rather than guessing.

Add the details that affect the choice

Include what the box will hold, approximate product weight, quantity, and whether it will be shipped, stored, displayed, or used another way. These details help the manufacturer review the right specification; dimensions alone do not establish strength.

If you do not have a box yet

Measure the product you need to pack and explain how it will be placed. A packaging specialist should confirm clearances and the final box dimensions before production.
